Vriksh - borrowed from the Sanskrit language word vṛkṣā, means tree.

Having had the privilege of growing up surrounded by nature, I have always felt a sense of deep kinship with natural surroundings – and hence a keen interest to ensure their survival and propagation. This led to the creation of Vriksh.

The Vriksh Foundation is dedicated to renewal and restoration work of every kind that can benefit the planet.

 

As humans, we must own up to the fact that we have destroyed natural habitats with impunity leading to catastrophic consequences, including extinction of thousands of species over our own ‘evolutionary’ history. We have constantly prioritized our own wellbeing and convenience over that of the planet, without realizing that we are one and the same. Without a healthy planet, there is no healthy ‘us’.

 

At its core, Vriksh is a movement to transition from a consumption mindset to a contribution mindset.

With tools at our disposal, we have become the apex predators. At the same time, we are the only animal capable of conscious action, hence it falls on us to restore and rebuild natural habitats.
